01.10.2007 review: Soccer tournament Waschenbach 2007

11 teams with more than 100 players took up this sportive challenge under the beaming sun and 30°C. In spite the high temperature the players were highly committed, nearly exhausting themselves physically.
They kicked the ball all day long – until 7.10 pm, when the tournament was finally decided: the team VR-Bank Rhein-Sieg won the cup deservedly. With 6:1 being a clear result of the semi-final (against (N)OKs 1), the players kicked themselves into the final against (N)OKs 2 and were not to defeat during the final game. The VR-Bank Rhein-Sieg players ensured the Cup with a 2:0. As we could hear from well informed sources, the winning team will be there again next year to defend the title.
The top scorer of the tournament is also a member of the winning team: Jürgen Klütsch scored 14 goals - no other player scored more.

Some teams convinced not only on the field: team Wolfs’ Burger won this year’s most fancy trikot competition. After each team had sent one representative over the catwalk, the winner was determined by the spectators –the players from Wolfsburg received the first place happily under thunderous applause  .

During the semi-final the tournament winners VR-Bank Rhein-Sieg competed against (N)OKs 1 and beat the opponent superiorly 6:1.  During the 2nd semi-final QCC Bochum played against (N)OKs 2 and lost 0:1.  The tournament continued  with an exciting third place game. A thrilling spot kick handed QCC Bochum the 3:1 win  (N)OKs 2.

Actually, the spectators could not be held back at all – they cheered, applaused and sang for their teams. In the midth of Waschenbach the “Sommermärchen” revived and the Formel D fans gave free rein to their enthusiasm. Now and here a big thanks – to the ambitioned players as well as to the spectators who gave everything on the stands!

After the winners were determined, Viola Metzner held the award ceremony. She presented the winning team VR-Bank Rhein-Sieg with the much sought-after Formel D Cup and the three best-ranked teams with medals.
No soccer game without party: after all the sportive highlights, fun, enjoyment and music were on the top of the list of the participants and fans and soccers rocked the Waschenbacher Kerb until early morning.
